The bottom line is if I pay twice a month to my mortgage in an amount that is equal to my normal monthly mortgage then I will save almost 8 years. It will take me about 22 years to pay off a 30 year mortgage.

In Texas property tax is very high. We will pay around $7000 a year or so on our home in taxes. Pretty high! I opted to not use escrow and keep the money myself so I can earn interest through the year.

If we gain 4 - 5% a year in our home, this isn’t the best return but buckled with the tax benefits, it is much better than renting and gaining nothing.
It feel great to own a home.
